Ikram Maymouni is a Barcelona-based artisan and designer of macramé, an ancient technique based on the simple knotting of ropes. She is the founder of ABHA Studio, which specialises in the manufacture of knotted ornaments and is dedicated to disseminating this ancient art through its workshops.
ABHA stands for contemporary macramé and conscious knots.
A transformative journey guided by the artisan and designer Ikram Maymouni. Each meticulously crafted project becomes a gateway to the essence of macramé, an ethereal connection between past and present, a testimony to the timeless charm of human creativity.
ABHA is a project that explores the art of knotting. A project born from the idea of persevering in this ancestral art in which only the hands are used to execute it.
With her practice, she aims to “weave people” through the art of knotting and using hands and rope as the only tools. In 2022, Editorial GG published the book Abha Macramé; a review of the most common basic and alternative knots, with step-by-step instructions and illustrations. Fifteen projects with different degrees of difficulty.
